Our dermal cells produce increasingly less natural hyaluronic acid and collagen fibres with age. The result is dehydration and diminishing cell renewal. The elasticity of the skin decreases, deeper wrinkles “carve” themselves into the face. The fatty tissue of the subcutaneous layer also undergoes changes. Deficits in volume consequently lead to the formation of sunken cheeks.

With age, our skin gradually loses its resilience and vitality. This is caused by external influences like UV rays, stress and nicotine as well as internal factors, which include the natural ageing process and genetic predisposition. Natural collagen production decreases. The supporting, elastic fibre net of our connective tissue is subject to tearing, muscle and bone structures change, sagging occurs in the skin. Fatty deposits are repositioned and wander toward the lower half of the face due to gravitational force. The facial proportions change and the once clear, youthfully taut contours become blurred.
Using Sculptra®, this situation is remedied gradually and efficiently. The poly-L lactic acid is injected under the skin and stimulates the production of new collagen. Treatment involves a minimum of three sessions in four-week intervals. Lost volume is restored and the signs of facial ageing are sustainably corrected. The result lasts for a minimum of two up to four years, after which it is slowly resorbed.

The organ that is most frequently afflicted with tumours is our skin. Tumour diseases of the skin are on the rise. Ultraviolet light is thereby the most significant contributing factor for the development of malignant tumours, white and black skin cancer. Today, increased exposure to the sun begins early with childhood leisure activities. Early detection of skin tumours can save lives.

Screening for skin cancer with incidence light microscopy: This is a particularly thorough examination of the entire skin organ from head to toe. This naturally includes the analysis of all pigmented lesions using incidence light microscopy.
Complete check with incidence light microscopy and videography: In addition to our screening for skin cancer, this also includes photographing and examining conspicuous moles and skin changes with computer-aided microscopy (FotoFinder®). This procedure offers optimal diagnostic security in the progressive evaluation of pigmented skin changes and moles. Even the smallest changes can be identified. Skin cancer and its pre-stages are detected at the earliest possible moment.
- Electronic data storage enables a detailed comparison to previous findings for examinations at a later date.
- Even minimal optical changes of moles are easy to detect and can be reliably evaluated by the dermatologist.
- Video documentation reliably prevents the unnecessary removal of moles.
We recommend a complete annual check to everyone of 18 years of age and up, especially those with moles and pigmented lesions.
At Dermatologie des Westens, preventive medical screenings are invoiced as private medical treatments. These costs are unable to be reimbursed by statutory health insurance policies. Private health insurance plans generally reimburse the costs in full.

Treatment of acne scars, stretch marks and ageing skin
Microneedling (collagen induction therapy) helps to maintain youthful, fresh-looking skin and significantly improve existing irregularities in the complexion. The specially formed microneedles penetrate the skin and stimulate the skin’s regeneration from deep within the collagen tissue.
Medical microneedling:
This treatment is performed in the practice under local anaesthesia with the objective of treating visible signs of skin ageing, stretch marks and acne scars.
Cosmetic microneedling:
With the use of a needle roller suited for home-based application, the top layer of the skin is limbered. This enables, for example, hyaluronic acid serum to deeply infiltrate the skin. The treatment does not require pain relief.
Optimal treatment results are achieved by the combination of medical and subsequent cosmetic microneedling along with supplementary treatments like mesotherapy, chemical peelings and treatment with filler.
An improvement can usually be seen after the first treatment. Treatment intervals of 6-8 weeks are recommended.
