Anti-ageing and treatment of acne
Acne and blemished skin can be effectively treated with a peeling. There are various types of peelings:
Jet peeling: This deep peel is an innovation from the USA, which is exceptionally gentle, painless and effective. DERMATOLOGIE des WESTENS is now also using jet peeling to treat acne, scars and wrinkles. The application rejuvenates the skin texture in no time, by reducing lines and improving the complexion.
Fruit acid peeling: Fruit acid reduces the cohesion of scaly, dead skin therefore loosening them for easy removal. It has a moisture-regulating effect and stimulates cellular metabolism. Treatments are given bi-weekly over a period of 2 to 3 months. During this time, the concentration of the acid is continuously increased. The treatment is generally well-tolerated and can even be performed during your lunch break. That’s why it is also known as the “lunch peeling”. Fruit acids are particularly effective for patients with acne and pigmenting.
Trichloroacetic acid (TCA): TCA peelings are used for medium-deep and deep peelings. Their application is used to treat wrinkles and extensive pigmentations. The peeling effect is so intense, that you will want to plan a downtime of approx. 1 week. But the result is well-worth it. Generally, 2-4 sessions in intervals of 2 weeks are performed. Local anaesthesia is required, usually in the form of a numbing cream.
Microdermabrasion: This is an alternative to chemical peelings. Innovative state-of-the-art technology enables a particularly gentle and effective mechanical peeling. An extremely fine quartz sand is sprayed on to the skin and immediately removed again by suctioning. This treatment is especially suited for treating discolorations/pigmentations and blemished skin. All types of skin can be treated; even darker complexions and treatment can also be performed during the summer months. Microdermabrasion is an ideal preparation and follow-up treatment for a chemical peeling.
Some additional tips:
- In the shower, massage your upper arms, thighs and buttocks with a body brush, a coarse sponge or a peeling solution. After drying your skin, rub on some lotion or cream containing urea.
- On vacation, you can treat yourself to a completely natural peeling by rubbing your skin with fine beach sand and subsequently creaming the cleaned skin.
- The right peeling for you and the number of required treatments will be determined in a comprehensive and individual consultation, based on the diagnosis and skin type.

Lymph drainage or connective tissue massage is a treatment to promote the outflow of lymphatic fluid from the face, neck and décolleté, and mobilises the removal of fluid deposits and waste. Applied regularly, the natural lymph passages are sustainably strengthened. Unsightly bags beneath the eyes, the so-called lachrymal sacks and inflammatory redness are gently relieved.

Our dermal cells produce increasingly less natural hyaluronic acid and collagen fibres with age. The result is dehydration and diminishing cell renewal. The elasticity of the skin decreases, deeper wrinkles “carve” themselves into the face. The fatty tissue of the subcutaneous layer also undergoes changes. Deficits in volume consequently lead to the formation of sunken cheeks.
Radiesse® counteracts this process. In contrast to treatments with hyaluronic acid fillers (see also fillers), it not only effectively eliminates deep wrinkles, but also fills out sunken cheeks. With age, our skin gradually loses its resilience and vitality. This is caused by external influences like UV rays, stress and nicotine as well as internal factors, which include the natural ageing process and genetic predisposition. Natural collagen production decreases. The supporting, elastic fibre net of our connective tissue is subject to tearing, muscle and bone structures change, sagging occurs in the skin. Fatty deposits are repositioned and wander toward the lower half of the face due to gravitational force. The facial proportions change and the once clear, youthfully taut contours become blurred.

Mesotherapy combines elements of neural- and pharmaceutical therapies with acupuncture. The gentle method is ideal for rejuvenating facial skin as well as neck, décolleté and hands. Each patient becomes an individual hyaluronic acid-enriched combination of substances comprised of vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. Using barely perceptible mini-injections, we administer this unique “cocktail” in those areas where the skin is visibly aged. This method improves microcirculation of the skin – the supply of nutrients and the removal of waste products. The skin is thereby stimulated to build new collagens. The procedure is virtually painless. To achieve the best possible results, a minimum of three sessions are necessary.

Sclerotherapy
Spider veins – tiny red or blue veins on the legs – and varicose veins can be gently, painlessly and permanently eliminated with sclerotherapy.
The procedure: The tiny blood vessels are carefully pricked with a very fine needle and tiny amounts of a sclerosing agent are injected into them with gently applied pressure. Frequently, only one prick of the needle is required for an entire capillary loop. The sclerosing agent causes a local inflammation, which allows the blood to clot, ultimately causing the tiny blood vessel to completely decompose.
The result: This process generally takes 4-6 weeks. The skin’s surface usually remains undamaged during this treatment. If the spider veins don’t completely disappear, the treatment can be repeated, possibly using a higher dosage of the sclerosing agent.

Perspiring is a completely normal and necessary bodily function. It serves to cool or regulate body temperature: The higher the outside temperature, the greater the amount of perspiration consequently produced by the body. Even certain situations, like stress or excitement, can induce perspiration.
While higher temperatures naturally cause increased perspiration in most people, there are around 2.5 million individuals in Germany who perspire heavily even on cooler days. These individuals are also prone to sudden perspiration attacks, which involves secreting greater amounts of perspiration as an immediate response to certain circumstances. This can lead to extremely uncomfortable and even embarrassing moments, sometimes even subjecting sufferers to social isolation.
The medical specialists at DERMATOLOGIE des WESTENS can provide a targeted and relatively simple solution to your hyperhidrosis, without the need for surgery. The convenient therapy with botulinum toxin A (more popularly known as Botox® or Dysport®) is an advisable, low-risk option.
Used to reduce wrinkles, the treatment blocks muscle activity; to overcome excessive perspiration, it inhibits production by the sweat glands The result is nearly complete dryness of the treated area for a period of about 5 to 9 months. A subsequent treatment is also possible, which may even lead to a more long-lasting effect.
Pre-treatment with a special cream in the armpit area, makes the procedure nearly pain-free. Patients can return to their daily activities directly following treatment. There are no side effects expected for underarm treatment of hyperhidrosis with Botox.
